Evangelium Vitae Award
Ted Neises and Larry Winter attended the Knights of Columbus State Convention last weekend. The Evangelium Vitae was accepted on behalf of CTK's Knights of Columbus Council #16700
The Purpose of the Evangelium Vitae award from the State Council Knights of Columbus is to recognize councils most effective in promoting the Gospel of Life. There are four different areas of involvement that are required to qualify for the award: public information and education, pastoral care, public policy efforts favorable to pro-life legislation, and prayer and worship.
Christ the King Council 16700, held a pro-life brunch to raise funds to help purchase a 4D ultrasound machine to be placed in a pregnancy crisis center and a ultrasound machine to be placed in a mobile van. The council also lead the parish of Christ the King in a Novena for Life to end abortion. At the pro-life brunch, a guest speaker from the State Knights of Columbus Council spoke about the success of the KofC sponsored ultrasound program in saving the lives of the unborn. The Council also assisted “A Better Choice” pregnancy crisis center with raising funds on “Lifesaver Sunday”. This award was for the area of the Wichita Diocese.
Easter Vigil Highlights
Congratulations to Ha McCosh, Nancy McDaniel and Maddox Murie who were Baptized, Confirmed, and made their First Holy Eucharist.
Mass began around the fire outside. Palms left over from Palm Sunday were part of the kindling.
The Paschal Candle is lit from the blessed fire. The Paschal Candle remains lit at each Liturgy throughout the Easter season until Pentecost and during all baptisms throughout the year, passing the light of Christ to each person baptized. The candle is also used at funeral services, and placed next to the casket during a funeral Mass as a reminder that the sacrament of Baptism is itself a death and resurrection in Christ.
Thank you to Brett Schauf for taking pictures during the Easter Vigil!
Members of the Music Ministry shared their beautiful voices as a choir during the Triduum liturgies
Maddox Murie is baptized.
RCIA members bring up Offertory symbolizing the gifts and prayers of all present to be placed on the Altar.
